This is the part where I’m supposed to draw you in and show you what an interesting person I am right? Does anybody else hate writing an ‘about me,’ so much pressure to sound like a fully-functioning human being. Well here goes nothing.

I’m Helen, apparently named after ‘Helen of Troy’ but I reckon that’s a lie my parents made up to stop me from despising them for not calling me Roxy. Currently stumbling through my early twenties and still have little to no clue who I am or where I’m going. Couple that with a love for writing and I thought I’d get blogging.

My major life loves include coffee, uno, Natalie Portman, Gilmore Girls, my collection of women in pop culture mugs and waking up before my alarm goes off. I talk a lot about pop culture and the disasters I encounter on a daily basis. Most of the time I’d like to think I’m a pretty good egg so I’d love to talk to anyone and everyone: Insert smiley face emoticon here.

PS: if you do want to contact me to discuss which Gilmore Girl you prefer (Lorelai, duh) or which cheese you’d steal from the supermarket if an apocalypse were to occur you can do so on tisfortea@yahoo.co.uk. Although please no insulting or crude emails, I get enough of that from people I actually know.

PSS/PPS: the header image isn’t mine I found it on tumblr because my life really is that interesting and I really am that bitter.

  2. First of all…I’ve got to love another fellow Helen! (My parents also gave me the same explanation for the name choice…I can’t help but resent them for giving me a name that abbreviated is “Hel” and that rhymes so easily with smelly, though- I’m sure you understand my frustrations!) Secondly, having had a quick browse of your blog and your writing style, I can’t help but think that you’re amazing! Fab blog, I shall definitely be following and can’t wait to read more! Xx

    • Hello fellow Helen! I completely understand – it used to greatly upset me in primary school when other kids would call me “Hel” as I went to a Christian school. There really is no cool abbreviation for our name, “Helen” might have to do. We can struggle through it together. 🙂 Thank you for being so lovely, your comment has made my day and now I’m smiling from ear to ear! Definitely following yours too, I look forward to reading it! xx
